Boise State Scores With Late Recruit

The typical, 'sources close to the recruitment' have informed that Boise State may have added a late gem to it's 2009 Basketball Recruiting Class. If true, Boise State has just secured it's own hardwood scoring machine for the future...

BroncoCountry has learned from sources close to the recruitment of Golden Valley PG Maverick Ahanmisi that the standout MVP point guard has committed to Boise State.

If true, this would solve the one glaring weakness the Broncos faced this upcoming season, a young 'heir apparent' to PG's Anthony Thomas and LaShard Anderson... and what a heir the Broncos have landed.

Maverick Ahanmisi leaves Golden Valley as their all-time leading scorer and 3-point shooter. He has been All-Conference since his Sophomore season, when he was the only underclassman on a team of 10 seniors. Despite his youth, he led the team in scoring at 12 ppg.

That led to being chosen Team MVP as a Junior and Senior. He averaged over 20 points his Sr season, and was team captain both his Jr and Sr seasons.

In what was likely his signature game as a Senior, Ahanmisi scored 41 points in one of the greatest playoff performances in Santa Clarita Valley history, according to the Santa Clarita Signal. They recount that after missing his first three shots of the game, Ahanmisi hit 12-of-his-last-15 shots including six 3-pointers, and was a perfect 11 of 11 from the charity stripe to lead his team to a hard fought win in the Division IIIA quarterfinals.

Credit the blog, 'Parsing the WAC' with first reporting Boise State's interest in the 6'1 185lb PG. A very good writeup that is worth a read.

We will strive to get confirmation very quickly on the latest Bronco Basketball Blue-chipper.
