Former Boise State Players Star For Vikings

Former Bronco stars and national heroes Ian Johnson and Vinny Perretta have done everything they could to show their obvious worth to the Minnesota Vikings. Johnson was Minnesota's top rusher tonight and Perretta was their top receiver. Minnesota makes their final roster cuts tomorrow.

Former Boise State star Ian Johnson was the star of the Minnesota Vikings tonight in Minneapolis in his third National Football League preseason game since joining the team. Johnson rushed 17 times for 61 yards (3.6 average) and two touchdowns and had three receptions for 26 yards in Minnesota's 35-31 loss to Dallas. Former Bronco receiver Vinny Perretta was Minnesota's top receiver with three catches for 44 yards.

Former Iowa running back Albert Young, who is battling with Johnson for a spot on the Vikings team, had more carries (19) but less yards (55) than Ian. Johnson scored on a one-yard touchdown to put his team ahead 14-7 in the second quarter and a two-yard score that gave Minnesota a 28-21 lead in the third. But the Viking defense could not stop Dallas.

NFL teams must trim their rosters to 53 players tomorrow. As soon as BroncoCountry learns the fate of the two Fiesta Bowl heroes, we will let you know.
