Broncos Show Interest In Eastlake ATH

Eastlake HS ATH Austin Reifeis (Redmond, WA) attended the Boise State camp and piqued the interest of the Bronco, as they told him they'll be checking up on him often. Reifeis and his teammates begin the 2009 season, hoping to challenge Skyline HS for top spot in the division. He spoke to about his upcoming senior season, his interest in Boise State, and his recruitment thus far.

Eastlake HS ATH Austin Reifeis (Redmond, WA) attended the Boise State camp back in June and he enjoyed the experience. "I loved the Boise camp," he said. "It was great. I liked how they coached it. It was very sound and on schedule," he added.

The latest offer for Reifeis came from Idaho State. That brings his current offer total to three. "I have offers from Hawaii, Illinois State, and Idaho State," he said. "I'm also hearing from Washington, Oregon State, Idaho, Colorado State, Wyoming, and Boise State."

The Broncos have recently jumped back into the picture and they would like to further evaluate the talented ATH as the season progresses. "I talked to Coach (Justin) Wilcox about three weeks ago," Reifeis said. "He told me they are definitely interested and want to see my game film for the first three games of the season."

Defensive Coordinator Justin Wilcox is one of the best recruiters on the Bronco staff and it's because of his ability to connect with HS athletes. "Coach Wilcox is a great guy and real high energy," he said. "He's a real good guy. I could talk to him easily and some coaches are awkward. He isn't."

Austin (6'3, 230, 4.7) brings versatility to the gridiron and Boise State plans to further evaluate exactly where he'll fit in terms of position. "They aren't sure where I'd fit," he said. "It might be TE or H-back. They said they like the way I play," Reifeis added.

The standout ATH previously felt he might be best at TE. At this point, he's not quite sure. "Hawaii wants me at LB," he said. "I might be most natural at TE, but I work my butt off at LB. I think that's coming to fruition. I think LB is right up there now. I just want to become more aggressive."

The Eastlake Wolves finished with a 6-4 record in 2008 and now they are ready to kickoff the 2009 season. "There's a different tone than last season and a lot of senior leadership," he said. "We open with Mount Si. They're a decent 3A team. We beat them last year," he added. Austin looks for the defense to lead the way this season. "Our defense is going to really surprise people. Our defense is big and fast."

A trip to the Tacoma Dome is the goal for this season. "We want to make it to the Tacoma Dome and win the King County Championship," Reifeis said.

Last season, Reifeis racked up 54 tackles and 3 sacks on defense. On offense, he had 25 receptions for 350 yards and 1 TD. will continue to have updates on Austin Reifeis throughout his senior season.
