On the football field, the two played offensive guard, tight end, linebacker and defensive end. Jeff earned 1st team All-League and All-Regions honors at both linebacker and guard as well as All-State at guard. Pete earned 1st team All-league and All-Region at guard and 1st team All-League and 2nd team all Region honors at defensive end. He was also an All-State selection at guard and was named the Regions Lineman of the Year.
Both also excell in track as Pete finished 5th in the league in the shot put while Jeff finished 10th in the state in the discus. With their matching 4.14 GPA's, both were named to the state's All-Academic team and are members of the National Honor Society.
Both have Oregon leading and a similar top five but with a different order after the Ducks.
"Oregon is my leader followed by Stanford, Michigan, Colorado and Washington," Jeff said. "Education is the most important thing to me. I want to major in Business Management and there's a good chance Pete and I will be going to the same school."
As for Pete:
"Oregon is my top school followed by Florida, Washington, Stanford and Colorado," Pete said. "I'm looking at what schools have the best combination of academics and athletics as well as graduation rates among athletes. I want to major in Business and would like to take sports as far as I can."
The Cavender's will both attend the Nike Camp in East Lansing April 20 but are undecided about the rest of their summer camp plans.
