Reifeis currently holds three offers and he's hoping to add a few more once his film is reviewed. "I have offers from Illinois State, Idaho State, and Hawaii," he stated. "Wyoming and Idaho are recruiting me the hardest right now. I hope they offer."
The Vandals have improved tremendously and Austin was able to make the trip to Moscow for the contest against Colorado State. "They sent tickets for me and three other players," Reifeis said. "It was really cool and I like how it's pretty close to home. The energy was great around the town. The players have stayed real positive and Coach (Robb) Akey is a real high energy guy. I like what Akey is doing."
Austin still keeps in contact with (Defensive Coordinator) Justin Wilcox from Boise State. "I've been talking to Coach Wilcox about once a week through email," he said. "He's just updating me on how Boise State is doing and asking how I'm doing. I know they have a low amount of scholarships," Reifeis added.
The standout ATH likes how Boise State plays with a "chip" on its shoulder. "I've been watching all the games," he said. "They play with a chip on their shoulder and I like how they throw to the TE. They use a lot of motion and multiple TEs."
Reifeis (6'3, 230, 4.7) and his teammates are 4-3 at the midway point of the 2009 season. They are looking to rebound as they are currently 1-3 in their last four games. "We started out 3-0 and then we lost to Redmond," he stated. "We overlooked them and that woke us up. We just need to focus on this week and this game." Eastlake will now play a struggling Garfield team on Friday as they look to get back to their winning ways. "We have to win this next game to get into the playoffs. Garfield has had a rough year. The odds are in our favor."
Austin has been a playmaker on both sides of the ball so far in the 2009 season. On offense, he has 15 receptions for 175 yards. On defense, he has 30 tackles, 4 sacks, and 2 INTs (1 for a TD).
