2011 Playmaker Talks Recruiting

Skyline HS WR Kasen Williams (Issaquah, WA) is currently on pace to be the likely #1 WR prospect in the 2011 class. Williams has racked up offers from coast to coast and he's looking to lead the Spartans to yet another state championship in 2009. He spoke to BroncoCountry.com about his season to date and his recruitment thus far.

Skyline HS WR Kasen Williams (Issaquah, WA) is currently on pace to be the likely #1 WR prospect in the 2011 class. Williams has racked up offers from coast to coast and he's looking to lead the Spartans to yet another state championship this season. "I feel like we're on pace to meet our goals," he said. "Obviously, we wanted that win over Oaks Christian, but we never gave up. We have a game against Redmond coming up and then the King County Championship Game. It's going along pretty nicely right now," he added.

The standout WR currently has offers from coast to coast and it just so happens that Boise State was one of the first schools to extend him an offer. "Boise State was one of my first offers back in freshman year," Williams stated. "He was recruiting (current Bronco) Tom Swanson and saw that I was playing a lot as a freshman on a state championship football team. They ended up calling Coach Taylor and offered me over the phone."

Kasen (6'2, 195, 4.6) intends to do as much research as possible on each of the schools recruiting him. "I need to do some more research on Boise State," he said. "I know they are a great team and up there in the rankings. They definitely showed they could play against Oregon. They went up against Oregon and showed they could hang with Pac-10 schools."

Steve Sarkisian is in his first year as the Head Coach at Washington and he's looking to get the Huskies back on top in the Pac-10. Kasen can feel the excitement starting to build on Montlake. "Coach Sarkisian is trying to start a whole new era over there at UDub," he said. "They are really turning it around and it's incredible to watch them play. It's a whole different atmosphere and a big difference from last year and this year."

Skyline QB Jake Heaps is currently committed to BYU and holds the #1 spot in the QB rankings on Scout.com. Having a great QB like Heaps makes it that much easier for Kasen. "Playing with Jake Heaps is something special," he stated. "Most of his balls are all right at you. What I try to work on are the things that are just as valuable like route running, getting faster, and being quick off the ball."

The main goal of winning yet another state championship is still on the table for Skyline. The early season loss to Oaks Christian has kept the team hungry and they have rebounded tremendously since that loss. "The goals coming into this season were to start off good, beat Oaks Christian, win King County, and win a state championship," Williams said. "We started the season against a good Jesuit team and Oaks got us a bit, but I can't complain. We've come a long way since the beginning of the season," he added.

BroncoCountry.com will continue to have updates on Kasen Williams.
