Orchard Park HS ATH Robert Kugler (Orchard Park, NY) should be a familiar name to Bronco fans as his dad, Sean, coached the Boise State O-line during the undefeated 2006 season. Robert is becoming a hot commodity as schools are taking notice of his outstanding talent on both sides of the ball. "I have offers from Akron, Florida Atlantic, Syracuse, and Colorado State," he said. "I'm also hearing from Pittsburgh, Boise State, Purdue, Stanford, North Carolina, and a few others," he added.

The Broncos have already sent numerous letters to Robert and Sean Kugler (Robert's father) keeps in close contact with Chris Petersen. "I've talked to them through my dad," he said in reference to Boise State. "My dad talks to Coach Petersen weekly."

The domination on the gridiron by Boise State continues to make waves as recruits are taking notice of the Broncos. "I love Boise State," Kugler stated. "I love that they just keep winning. They are really into it at Boise and there's such a cool atmosphere. I also like how they use their TEs."

The unforgettable 2006 season will be one that Bronco fans always remember. Robert (6'3, 235, 4.85) got to witness that unbelievable season up close and personal and he remembers it as if it was yesterday. "I remember sitting there and thinking we couldn't lose," he said in reference to the 2006 season. "It was such a unique feeling. I was a ball boy at the Fiesta Bowl and I was on Oklahoma's sideline for the second half. That's one of my greatest memories. I remember sprinting down the field on that hook and ladder play," Kugler added.

Robert and his dad tuned in as they watched the Broncos continue their winning ways with another Fiesta Bowl victory just a couple weeks ago against TCU. "We stayed up for the whole thing," he said. "It was actually a good defensive game. Boise State really has some players now. It's a little different watching them now because we felt we were overmatched against Oklahoma. You could say from watching that game they were just better than TCU."

Sean Kugler was recently named the new O-line coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Robert is looking forward to a change in scenery. "One of the best franchises in the NFL," he said in regards to Pittsburgh. "We might have a chance to actually go to some playoff games now." Robert's dad, Sean, started work with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday. Robert will join his dad in Pittsburgh following the school year.

Orchard Park brought home a state championship in 2008 and came up short in the playoffs this past season. "We had a state championship run as a sophomore," Kugler said. "We finished 7-2 and lost right before the sectional championship. We definitely wanted to win our section and repeat."

Robert's search for a new HS will get underway real soon and he's looking for a school that has a chance to win. "I definitely want to go to a school that has a chance to win," he stated. "It doesn't necessarily have to be the best, but it's fun to win. We're going to head down to Pittsburgh on my February break."

Last season, Robert had 80 tackles, 5 sacks, and 3 forced fumbles on defense. He had 15 receptions on offense as Orchard Park's system relies heavily on the running game. Kugler is also an excellent student in the classroom as he carries a 98% cumulative GPA.

BroncoCountry.com will continue to have updates on Robert Kugler.
