Harris Leads Lady Broncos Over San Jose State

Tasha Harris poured in 21 points as Boise State shot past San Jose State 75-53 last night in Taco Bell Arena. With that win out of the way, the Lady Broncos focus on Hawai'i Saturday night.

Tasha Harris refused to let the Lady Broncos lose.

The senior guard scored 21 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead Boise State to a 75-53 win over San Jose State in Western Athletic Conference action last night in Taco Bell Arena.

Down 17-12 with 11:44 remaining in the first half, Harris led Boise State on a 13-4 run and the Broncos never trailed after that.

The Bronco defense held San Jose State (4-13 overall, 0-4 in the WAC) to just 16.7% three-point shooting and 38.5% from the floor.

"I thought our team play well tonight and everyone gave a solid effort," said Boise State head coach Gordy Presnell.  "We needed this win to get us over the hump in conference play. We have been close in the previous three games but came up short. I am happy for the team."

Harris poured in 13 of her 21 points in the first half as she hit five-for-five including two three-pointers.  Senior Rebecca Kepilino aided Harris with a season-high 14 points and seven rebounds and junior Melissa Rima had 10 points, seven boards, two blocks and two steals.

Chasity Shavers led the Spartans with 17 points while Shaunna Ridge and Samantha Marez contributed 11 points each.

Presnell's team is now 1-3 in the
WAC and 12-6 overall.  Boise State hosts Hawai'i Saturday night at 7.
