The Bronco coaches took notice of Kupets (6'0, 170) following his outstanding performance at the Top 150 JC Showcase. "Coach (Tim) Cleary recruited me and they saw me play at the Top 150 JC Showcase," he said. "He was real interested and wanted me to come on a visit."
That visit to Boise sealed the deal and he knew he wanted to be a Bronco following that trip. "I took my official visit in early September and went to the football game against Oregon," Kupets said. "They love their sports in Boise and they have great football fans. I wanted to get my recruitment out of the way and I got along well with the players and coaches."
Currently, Chris and his teammates at Hill College are playing shorthanded due to injuries. He believes this experience has made him a better leader on the court. "We're down to seven players," he stated. "We're like 10-11 and 1-3 in the conference. I've had to change and become a leader. I really feel I've become a true PG in the last three or four games. I want to take that to Boise."
The standout PG will arrive in Boise this summer and start working out immediately. "I'll be there for the first or second semester of summer school," Kupets said. "I'm ready to settle in and make the team my family. I'm going to get in the weight room following the season and ask the coaches what they want me to do to get ready," he added.
Bronco fans can expect Kupets to be a leader on the court. "I'm a floor leader and I get everyone involved. I have a good attitude and I'll just do the best I can to help us win." Currently, Chris is averaging 12 points, 7 assists, and 7 rebounds per game.
