Boise State Downs Idaho 73-63

Boise State's senior leaders paved the way as the Lady Broncos beat Idaho 73-63 last night in Taco Bell Arena. Now, Boise State has to duplicate their home performance on the road.

The Boise State women's basketball team got a win when they needed it most, pulling away from Idaho for a 73-63 victory last night in Taco Bell Arena.

Coach Gordy Presnell's team clinched its fourth straight winning season, advancing its record to 16-9.  More importantly, the Lady Broncos moved to 5-6 in the Western Athletic Conference as they build momentum for the stretch run and the critical seeding for the upcoming tournament.

Tasha Harris came up big with 17 points, six rebounds and seven assists to lead the Broncos to their 12th home win in 13 games.  Fellow senior Rebecca Kepilino provided leadership with 14 points and five rebounds, Janie Bos continued her strong play with 12 points and 10 rebounds and newfound scorer Melissa Rima chipped in 12 points.

Idaho held a 17-16 advantage but Boise State went on a 16-2 run to take a 32-19 lead and went into the locker room up 35-25.   The Broncos extended their lead to 18, aided by Kepilino's seven points and Rima's six.

Idaho never seriously challenged after that.

Rachele Kloke led Idaho with 17 points while Charlotte Otero had 16 points, three rebounds and five assists.  The Vandals saw their record slip to 6-18 and 4-7 in conference.

Boise State now holds sole possession of fifth place in the WAC .  Should they be able to band together on the road against San Jose State and Hawai'i next week, they have a great chance to finish third in the WAC .  The Broncos have five games remaining.
