Lady Broncos Break School Vault Record

Boise State came away with a big road win in downing WAC rival Southern Utah last night in women's gymnastics. The Lady Broncos set a school vault record in producing the victory.

The Boise State gymnastics team is making a case for getting back into the national Top 25.

The Broncos set a school record on vault in downing Southern Utah 196.10-195.425 last night in Cedar City , Utah .  It was the Thunderbirds' first loss of the season after seven consecutive victories.  Boise State moved to 9-1 and 4-0 in the WAC.

Boise State 's score of 196.10 was their 12th best in school history.  The Broncos posted a vault mark of 49.350 in setting the school record.  They also performed a season-best of 49.150 on beam and tied their second-highest score on bars (48.925) this season.

All six Broncos scored at least 9.80 in the vault with junior Hannah Redmon leading the way with a 9.925.  Amy Glass tied her career best of 9.90 while freshmen Brittany Potvin-Green and Hailey Gaspar posted 9.825's.  Junior Sarah Smith scored a 9.825 and sophomore Chelsee Apple was awarded a 9.80.

"I am so excited about our performance tonight," said co-head coach Tina Bird. "The team finally competed beam like they practice. They've been rock solid in practice for weeks but just hadn't put it all together in a meet. Amy Glass had the pivotal performance for us and the rest of the team followed suit. I'm so proud of the girls."

Senior Taylor Jacob paced the Broncos on bars with a 9.850.  Redmon earned a 9.85 while junior Mallory Dziawura scored a 9.775. 

Glass tied her career best with a 9.825 in floor exercises.  Yvette Leizorek earned a 9.80 and Potvin-Green contributed a career-best 9.750. 

Jacob led Boise State home with a season-best 9.875 on beam.  Glass, Gaspar and junior Kelsey Lang each scored a 9.825. 

Redmon hit a 9.925 on vault to win the individual title in that apparatus.  Southern Utah 's Elise Wheeler won event titles on bars (9.875), beam (9.90) and floor (9.875) in taking the all-around title with a 39.550.  Boise State 's Glass scored a season best of 39.30 to finish second while Redmon was third all-around with a final score of 38.275.

Boise State hosts BYU and Utah State Friday in Taco Bell Arena in only the team's second home meet.  The triangular contest begins at 7 p.m.
