#23 Boise State Wins WAC Regular Season Title

Boise State clinched the WAC regular season title with an impressive victory over #36 San Jose State last night at Taco Bell Arena. The Broncos head to Fullerton, California to complete their quest for a third straight WAC Championship.

The #23 Boise State gymnastics team clinched the Western Athletic Conference regular season title with a win over #36 San Jose State last night at Taco Bell Arena on Senior Night.

The Broncos (13-2, 5-0 in conference) scored 196.550 points to easily outdistance their rivals from San Jose ,(9-10, 1-4 in the WAC) who totaled 193.475 on the night.

The performance not only topped Boise State 's best this season but ranks as the #7 score in school history.  Seniors Yvette Leizorek Taylor Jacob and Raquel Turnbow were honored prior to competition.

Junior Hannah Redmon continued her torrid pace with three individual wins.  She earned a 9.925 on vault, then tied with redshirt sophomore Amy Glass for honors on the bars with a 9.90 and finished with a 9.90 to win the floor competition.  Glass was crowned the all-around champion with a nice 39.650 score and Lindsay Kazandjian completed a Bronco sweep with the beam title (9.825).

Redmon has now won 15 vault titles, third all-time at Boise State and she his now second in career floor wins with 14.  Kazandjian is now ninth in Bronco history with five career wins on beam.

Boise State put together their season best scores on floor (49.200) and bars (49.325), with the bars performance ranking #4 all-time.

Leizorek achieved a lifetime best of 9.850 to place third on bars, tying her with Jacob, and also tied a career-best with a 9.850 on floor.  Leizorek and teammate Hailey Gaspar (who also set a career high) tied for second in floor exercises.  Jacob also tied for second on the balance beam with Kelsey Lang, each recording 9.80's.

Junior Sarah Smith placed third on the vault with a commendable 9.825. 

After taking care of business in winning the WAC regular season, the Lady Broncos now will try to wrap up their third consecutive WAC Championship next Saturday.  Cal State Fullerton hosts the annual event getting underway at 7 p.m. Mountain Time.
