Bishop Kelly LB Cody McCarthy (Boise, ID) recently picked up his first offer. The local standout could possibly be the best prospect in the State of Idaho for the 2010 recruiting class. What school extended him the offer? "I got offered by Washington State," he said. "I went up to the Junior Day at WSU and Coach Ball offered me," he added.

McCarthy enjoyed his trip to the Palouse. He's originally from North Idaho so he felt right at home. "I like WSU a lot," he said. "It's a great place. I like the location. I'm originally from Orofino and my uncle was a pitcher at WSU."

Currently, Cody is still looking at all the schools that are showing interest. A trip to Washington for their spring game at Husky Stadium is already being planned. "I'm going to UDub to watch their spring ball," he stated. "We'll be up there for the spring game. I'm looking forward to that."

McCarthy and his dad recently made the short drive over to Boise State to watch the Broncos as they are gearing up for a run at the national championship. "I thought they looked real clean and competitive in practice," he said in regards to Boise State. "No one is taking reps off. The injured kids on the sidelines are busting their butts working out while the other players are practicing. They work hard down there."

Cody had a moment to speak with Head Coach Chris Petersen while on campus. As usual, the conversation revolved around everything but football. "I spoke to Coach Petersen last practice," McCarthy said. "He asked how my family was and we talked about his family. He's a real personable guy. We didn't talk much football. We talked about the weather and everything else," he added.

The standout LB already has a rigorous workout routine in place. "I workout six times a week in the weight room and then have track practice after school," he said. "I also go to an athletic training center to work on my 40 and combine stuff."

BroncoCountry.com will continue to have updates on Cody McCarthy.
