Boise State's Thongach Beats #10 Player

Boise State's Pichittra Thongdach has bumped #10 Denise Dy of Washington out of the NCAA National Tennis Tournament. The Bronco star won 2-6, 6-1, 6-1.

Pichittra Thongdach of Boise State has defeated the 10th-best women's singles player in the nation 2-6, 6-1, 6-1 in Athens, Georgia today at the NCAA National Tennis Tournament.

Thongdach was matched with Denise Dy, a Pac-10 Conference player from Washington. Dy started strong, winning the first set 6-2 but after that, it was all Thongdach and her missile-like 100-mile-an-hour serve.

With the win Thongdach advances to the next round of the tournament against Ellah Nze of Duke. Nze easily disposed of Washington State, 6-0, 6-4. It seems the Pac-10 Conference is not starting out too well.

Thongdach and Nze will take to the University of Georgia courts at 9:30 a.m. Mountain Time tomorrow. , Duke Elisabeth Fournier, Washington St.

After a very short rest, the NCAA is making Thongdach play her doubles match with partner Lauren Megale at 2:30 in the afternoon. What's more the Boise State pair will be meeting #17 Alexa Guarachi and Courtney McLane of Alabama.
