News this morning out of California report that Boise State linebacker commit Emil Smith was killed last night in a tragic car accident.
Although Emil was only a Bronco for almost a month, his enthusiasm and love for the school and team were obvious.
At the time of his commitment he spoke with BroncoCountry's Jared Crews and explained why he committed on the spot upon receiving his offer to join the Broncos, "It's mind blowing that I'm going to be a Bronco. I'm more than excited. It's just a blessing to be a part of a program like this."
Now, Emil will join Paul Reyna as permanent fixtures of the Boise State program, teammates who were taken too soon, but who will serve to inspire and anchor the hearts of their teammates in their shared goals and honor as Boise State Broncos.
All of us here at BroncoCountry wish to express our most deep and heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and teammates. May God comfort you and keep you in this time of mourning.
Rest in peace Emil.
