De La Salle LB Blake Renaud (Concord, CA) recently narrowed his list to two schools as Boise State and Oregon State emerged as the front-runners. He visited both schools this past week and decided to pledge to the Blue and Orange on Saturday afternoon. What made him choose Boise State? "I could tell from listening to Coach Petersen talk that they want to win so bad," he said. "The coaches are focused on their players and they truly believe that they can go out and win a BCS Championship. That got me excited about their team and I liked that a lot," he added.

The Boise State staff rolled out the red carpet for Renaud and his family as each coach was there to greet them when they arrived. "We went into the coaching offices and every single coach was in there to greet my family. That was so cool. They all knew I was coming," he stated. "I then talked to Coach Gregory, walked around the campus, talked to the Defensive Coordinator, and finished talking with Coach Petersen."

The future Bronco could feel that "winning atmosphere" while he was on campus. "I would have to say the atmosphere stood out most," Renaud said. "Everyone is so pumped about the team and Boise just has so much pride in their team. You could just feel that winning atmosphere."

The victory over Oklahoma in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl continues to pay dividends for the Bronco football program. That was the day Renaud first thought about playing for Boise State. "The Oklahoma game and the Fiesta Bowl is what made me intrigued," he said. "To see them come back and win like that was amazing."

Blake returned home to the Bay Area and thought about the visit to each school. He then picked up the phone on Saturday afternoon and committed to LBs Coach Bob Gregory. "I went home and thought about it for a day and a half since it was fresh in my mind," he said. "I just had a feeling that Boise State was the place for me. I committed to Coach Gregory and told him I was going to be a Bronco. He and Coach Petersen were real excited," he added.

Renaud (6'2, 235, 4.69) and his teammates at De La Salle can now focus on winning yet another state championship. The talented LB doesn't care about the individual stats. He just wants to win another championship. "I just want to win a state championship," he said. "I don't care about the stats at all."

In 2009, Renaud racked up 55 tackles, 2 INTs, and had 1 fumble recovery. will continue to have updates on Blake Renaud.
