Too Much Duck

The Bronco soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Oregon yesterday in Eugene to open the 2010 season.

The defending Western Athletic Conference champion Boise State soccer team still has a ways to go to elevate their game nationally. The Broncos fell behind early and dropped a 2-0 decision to Oregon in Eugene yesterday.

Coach Steve Lucas's team began with an early flurry, testing the Duck goalkeeper with two lasers by Shannon Saxton and Kati Lucas in the first six minutes. The talented Bronco team would only get one more shot on goal in the remainder of the contest as Oregon tightened up their defense.

Meanwhile Jen Stoltenberg scored for the Ducks poking a Kelsey Hones cross into the net in the 12th minute. Oregon padded their lead with four minutes remaining in the half as Tahne Apo beat Bronco goalkeeper Liz Ruiz with a shot off a Stoltenberg cross.

Boise State will try to rebound from the defeat tomorrow when they continue their Oregon trip with a match at Portland State.
