BC Eagles' Tough Season Ends With Rival Syracuse

Boston College battled with Notre Dame on national television, falling 19-16. The Eagles have struggled with injury and inexperience the entire season, but will look to end their season on a high note Sunday when they take on the Syracuse Orange.

BOSTON: Fighting through injury and lack of experience, the Boston College Eagles fought hard in this year’s Shamrock Series. When many had the Irish favored by two touchdowns, the Eagles kept it close losing 19-16

“I wanted to see that development” said third-year head coach Stveve Addazio in his weekly press conference.  "They see it. If they didn't, they wouldn't have played the way they did on Saturday. Every one of the games we have played tough.”

The Eagles have struggled this season despite playing tough every game. The young team has been plagued with injuries and has been left with very little leadership on the field. Being young and inexperienced every game is a learning experience, and that is what this team is finding out.

The Eagles are now 3-8 on the season with one game left. After last years promising season, it is fair to say that this year has been a disappointment. Losing starting quarterback Darius Wade in the third week of the season has really hurt this team.

Addazio has been back and forth between three different quarterback for most of this season. John Fadule, Jeff Smith and Troy Flutie have all gotten reps since Wade’s injury, but neither of the three have really stood out. The offense has struggled week-in and week-out with no production to be found.

Fadule and Smith split time at quarterback against the Irish this week, with Fadule doing most of the throwing and Smith doing most of the running.

"What we're doing right now is evaluating every week," Addazio said. "We're trying to find out what's the best thing we can do with the guys we have right now to have the most success.”
It is very clear that the coaches are working to find the right piece of the puzzle for their system. However, there is one game left in the season and they have been searching since the third week.  The Eagles are a good offense away from being a competitor in the ACC.
Boston College wraps up their season next Saturday against Syracuse. Coach Addazio commented on who is going to start at quarterback next week, but does not know the status of Fadule yet who may have a concussion.

Syracuse (3-8) has also had a tough season losing their last 8 games. The Orange will be playing their final game under head coach Scott Schafer, who has been fired and will be terminated after the game.

The game between the Eagles and the Orange is known to be a rivalry game, there is no question about it. Coach Addazio was an assistant coach for three years at Syracuse, both teams are 3-8 with nothing to lose and it is senior night for Syracuse. The game should be exciting, look for both teams to leave it all on the field as the season comes to an end at the Carrier Dome this Saturday.
