Boston College's defense was one of the best in the nation this season. The defense finished atop the nation in total defense, yards per play, touchdowns allowed, rushing yards per carry, and tackles for loss.
Steven Daniels and Connor Wujciak, two key players from BC's lockdown defense, were named to the All-New England Team this week.
Daniels, a 6-foot, 243-pound linebacker, started all 12 games, leading the team in tackles with 82. The Cincinnati, Ohio-native registered 16 tackles for a loss, six sacks, and 51 unassisted stops. Daniels ranked sixth in the conference in tackles for a loss and 16th in the nation in total tackles. During his career, Daniels racked up 267 tackles, 30 tackles for a loss of 100 yards, 10.5 sacks for a loss of 60 yards, three interceptions, one forced fumble and three recoveries.
Wujciak carried the defensive line, as the 6-foot-3, 300-pound nose tackle tallied 31 tackles, including 11 for a loss and 4.5 sacks. Wujciak earned All-ACC first team accolades by the conference media. While in the Maroon and Gold, the senior totaled 112 tackles – including 62 solo stops – 21.5 tackles for a loss, 7.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and two blocked kicks over 49 games.
