EI: Which coach played the biggest part in your recruitment to BC?
John Wetzel: Coach Sirmans.
EI: At What position have you been told you will start your BC career?
John Wetzel: Right offensive tackle, according to old OL Coach Bicknell, but I am pretty sure it will still be right tackle. I know new OL coach Sean Devine as he was recruiting me out of New Hampshire.
EI: Have you kept in touch with any BC players or fellow commitments?
John Wetzel: Yeah I have, two guys that I talk to are Jim Noel and Rolandan Finch who were on the same official visit weekend as myself.
EI: What was the reason you chose BC, other than big time football and great academics?
John Wetzel: I just felt real comfortable with the players up there and I like the city, I really wasn't looking for a school that was out in the middle of nowhere. BC is right outside the city, away from it, but not too far away. I felt like I could definitely fit in there.
EI: If I didn't choose BC, I would have gone to______.
John Wetzel: Probably would have been Pittsburgh. They offered me the week before signing day and when they offered me I really thought about it because that is my home school. But I called them back and let them know I was going to stick with Boston College. The opportunity at BC seemed great and plus the coaches had been recruiting me for a long time, they offered me way before Pitt, and I had already committed and just wanted to stick with my commitment.
EI: Which home-cooked meal are you going to miss the most while at college?
John Wetzel: My mother makes some pretty good pan-fried chicken but probably what I will miss the most is my Dad's spaghetti because he makes some real good sauce that nobody else can make.
EI: Funniest or most memorable moment or person from official visit?
John Wetzel: When we went to eat, recruit Conor O'Neal told OL Thomas Claiborne that he would commit if Claiborne ate the insides of a lobster head. The waitress said it may not be good for you and you can get sick but Claiborne said, "Yeah, I'll do it." Then Conor committed the next week.
EI: Hottest celebrity you would like to go out with?
John Wetzel: I'll say, Beyonce.
EI: Have you ever listened to a Tony Orlando album?
John Wetzel: No I haven't.
EI: What do you listen to before a football game?
John Wetzel: I usually listen to rap/hip hop, particularly Jadakiss and D-Block because they get me real pumped up.
EI: When at a party, what's your best line with a girl?
John Wetzel: (chuckles) I usually don't use lines, it's just natural, I don't have a line. I'm a big guy so usually the ladies just come to me.
EI: Who was your host on your official visit?
John Wetzel: Mark Spinney
