Q&A: Nate Freese

With Signing Day done, Eagle Insider will be following up the 2009 class. This is the seventh installment of a series of Q&A sessions. This time it is Nate Freese, who took some time to talk with Eagle Insider.

EI: Which coach played the biggest part in your recruitment to BC?

NF: I would say, Coach Sirmans since he was my recruiter. He told me all about Boston College, all the history, how good of a football school it is, and how good academically it is.

EI: Have the coaches discussed what they are expecting from you as a freshman?

NF: They said kickoffs right away and whoever is better on field goals.

EI: How were your kickoffs this past season and what was your range on field goals?

NF: In high school you kickoff from the 40, opposed to the 30 in college, and I consistently kicked the ball through the end zone. My longest field goal this season was 52 yards.

EI: How would you describe your game on the field at this point?

NF: I am just trying to get stronger and mentally prepared for it all, because it is a big change from high school football to college football.

EI: Have you kept in touch with any BC players or fellow commitments?

NF: I text the punter Ryan Quigley sometimes, we talk a little bit.

EI: Who was your host on your official visit?

NF: Ryan Quigley.

EI: What was the reason you chose BC, other than big time football and great academics?

NF: I just felt right there, I got along very well with the coaches, and I liked everyone. The team was very welcoming when I came on my official visit.

EI: If I didn't choose BC, I would have gone to______.

NF: Probably Kansas.

EI: Which home-cooked meal are you going to miss the most while at college?

NF: Probably my Mom's pizza rolls. She puts cheese, pepperoni, and spices in them.

EI: Funniest or most memorable moment or person from official visit?

NF: Probably when we were at The Capitol Grille and Thomas Claiborne ate a lobster head. One of the other recruits (Conor O'Neal) said he would commit if he actually ate it, and he ended up eating it. He said he was going to commit on the spot, but he officially did it the next morning.

EI: Hottest celebrity you would like to go out with?

NF: I would have to say Shawn Johnson, the Olympic gymnast.

EI: So it is safe to say you will be watching a lot of Dancing with the Stars this season?

NF: Definitely.

EI: What do you listen to before a football game?

NF: I don't really listen to music before a game. I just get relaxed and try to calm down as much as possible, and do what I've been practicing to do.

EI: When at a party, what's your best line with a girl?

NF: I'm not really sure actually. It's been a while since I've had to use a line.
