Coleman Making Summer Plans

When schools are looking for wide receivers, speed is usually the primary concern. Brandon Coleman brings something else to the table. He is 6'6" and has the speed to play wide out at the next level. Consequently, a flood of schools have shown interest and extended offers.

Brandon Coleman has been on the radar of major colleges since he was a sophomore. At 6'6" he certainly stands out on the field. Playing for one of the top programs in the state of Maryland also makes a difference.

The result has been a long list of suitors recruiting the Forestville standout.

"I have offers VT, Wake, Boston College, Connecticut, Maryland, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Rutgers and Temple."

With so many schools showing interest and extending offers, the spring and summer will be filled with researching schools and making visits.

"I'm just taking it all in and doing my research. I'm planning some trips to make some visits. I'm planning to take visits to Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest right now. But, I'm still making arrangements and will get to as many places as possible."

Nothing is settled at this point and Brandon has not put together a favorites list.

"Those are the main schools right now, but that's not a favorite list right now. I'm still looking at a lot of schools and will take more than just those visits. The schools up north will take some extra time to visit. BC and CT will be longer trips and have to do some planning for those."

Football is one part of the equation. Academics will also play a role.

"I have pretty good grades. So, the academics are important. I have to look at that in addition to football."

In the end, the football aspect will play a significant role. At 6'6" many school are looking at Brandon as a hybrid tight end. Some schools see him as a receiver.

"I'm 6' 6" and 200 pounds. I rather play wide receiver. My high school coach was talking to me about being open minded about playing tight end. If I do that then I have to put on some weight and prepare for that position. I'd rather play wide receiver, but I'm willing to do what I have to do."

As he begins the process of evaluating schools, how teams plan to use him will be a topic of conversation.

"That's the question I'm asking from the schools. I want to know where they see me so I know what to expect. I got the speed to get the deep ball, but I like going over the middle to get slants and making things happen after I catch the ball."

At this point, Brandon is still making plans for the spring and summer. New schools continue to join the mix and his wide open at this point.

"No school is standing out right now. I'm just gathering information at this point. I'm not going to any of the combines. I'm looking at the summer camps right now. Things could change. Like I said I'm just getting things together, doing my research and making plans right now."
