Many Options for Nick Forbes

Nick Forbes, a member of the Scout 300, is hearing from colleges all over the country. His combination of physical skills and solid academics have resulted in a flood of offers from colleges around the country. Nick participated in the Baltimore Scout Combine and took some time to update Eagle Insider on his recruiting.

As a linebacker and running back at Thomas Johnson High School, Forbes was selected All-Conference at both positions and was named to the All-State Team as a linebacker. Consequently, schools from around the country have been extending offers.

"I'm open to everyone right now. I want to go to a school where I can get a good degree. My mom reminds me that football will be over some day. Even if I make it to the NFL, guys retire in their twenties. So, I need to have an education for life after football."

In addition to overall academics, Forbes has a specific major in mind and that will play a deciding role in his decision.

"I want to go to a school with a good engineering program. I want to be a mechanical engineer."

Football will play a big part in his decision. With just about every top program in the country recruiting him, Forbes will have plenty of options. For now, he is just working out and getting stronger and faster.

"Well, you can see I like to work out. Last year I was focused on getting stronger. I'm careful about my training. It is not enough to be big. I need to be faster and right now I'm working on my speed and overall athleticism."

Forbes visited Boston College in the fall for the Maryland game. He has also been to Maryland, Wake Forest, West Virginia, California, Stanford and Pittsburgh. All have offered and remain on his list of schools he is considering.

As far as a time table, he has not decided on anything just yet. He plans to continue to talk with all of the schools recruiting him and will make additional visits this summer. With a 3.6 core GPA and a two-part 1,030 SAT, he will breeze through the admissions process at the top academic schools.
