Lueders Focusing On Five

The Midwest is known for producing top football players every year. One of the best this year is Indiana defensive end Blake Lueders. With a long list of offers from some of the best college programs in the country, Lueders is deserving of his spot in the Scout 300. He recently trimmed his list of finalists to five and is preparing to make a decision on his college selection.

Blake Lueders recently trimmed his list of favorites to five. That list is a who's who of top academic schools playing major college football. Now the tough part. He wants to make his decision before his senior year. The final batch of coaches made their way to his school and now he can take time over the summer to pick a college.

"Nothing has changed much this month. Everyone has been into my school, but my list is the same as it was earlier in the month. My top-five is Stanford, Wake Forest, Boston College, Notre Dame and Northwestern."

Every one of the schools in his top-five are great schools, known for producing true student athletes in football.

"Yeah, I decided on those schools primarily due to academics. I intend to major in business, but that could change. Once I get into it, I could change my mind. It is more about the reputation of the schools overall, when it comes to academics."

Boston College is one of his finalists and remain in good position to land the talented defensive end.

"I really like BC. They are good program. Good coaches. Good people. Good school. I've been to all of my favorites. As far as BC, I was there during their spring practice. It was the weekend before the Boston Marathon. "

Now that the parade of coaches has come to an end, he can begin to think about each of his favorites. He also has time to do the things he enjoys much more than entertaining recruiters.

"Right now I'm working at a football camp. I'm coaching seventh, eight and ninth graders. I enjoy doing it. I'm probably not the greatest coach, but I'm working on it."

Scout has Blake listed as a defensive end. His size and potential to grow into his frame point to playing at end. Most schools agree, but think he can play other spots.

"I think I'll probably grow into a defensive end. Boston College is recruiting me at that spot. Others think maybe linebacker. I'm not really partial to either spot. Notre Dame thinks end, but maybe linebacker or interior line."

Since Blake is from Indiana, logic would dictate they are his childhood favorite. It would also follow that he is getting plenty of pressure from family and friends to commit to the local favorite.

"There is a little bit of pressure to pick Notre Dame. There are people in my school and in my ear telling me to go to Notre Dame. But, I'm not listening to them. I'm going to pick the school I want."

Now that he has a final five, Blake intend to think things over and make a decision during the summer. He did not indicate a decision was imminent, but did say he would like to get it over with by June or July so he can focus on his senior season.
