Despite switching conference affiliation from the Horizon League to the Atlantic 10, and an incredibly difficult non-conference slate, Brad Stevens and Butler finished the season 27-9 and made the 3rd round of the NCAA Tournament.
In the final USA Today Coaches' Poll of the 2012-13 season, Butler came in at #26 earning 76 points.
The Bulldogs were just behind tourney darling Florida Gulf Coast at #25.
Three Atlantic 10 teams, St. Louis (16), Virginia Commonwealth (23), and LaSalle (24), finished the season ranked in the final poll.
Butler was ranked for much of the season after reaching the Maui Invitational Championship game, and reached a high point of #9 on January 21, 2013.
In their lone season in the Atlantic 10, before moving onto the Big East Conference, Butler finished with an 11-5 conference record and advanced to the Atlantic 10 Tournament Semi-Finals.
After finishing tied for 3rd, in arguably the best non power-6 conference, the Bulldogs earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Butler won their 2nd round game against Bucknell 68-56, before being knocked out in the 3rd Round by future Big East foe Marquette, 74-72.
