Wideman 1st for Butler in 2014

Butler didn't have a commitment in the Class of 2014 with the early signing period just 4 months away. That changed Friday night when they picked up their first commitment.

Brandon Miller has had the head coaching job at Butler for just under 3 weeks and now he has his first commitment, which took just 3 days.

Tyler Wideman has committed to Butler after being offered by Butler on Tuesday.

Wideman is currently ranked as a 3-star prospect and the 30th ranked center in the Class of 2014.

The Lake Central (IN) High School center is the first commitment for the Bulldogs in the Class of 2014.

Wideman picked the Bulldogs over offers from Bradley and HREF=http://indianastate.scout.com/>Indiana State. He had interest from Xavier, Purdue, and others.

The 6-7, 270 pound Meanstreets center provides an excellent rebounder for the interior at Butler. He has toughness, which the Bulldogs will need as they head into the Big East. When motivated, Wideman is very difficult to stop down on the blocks with his size and bulk.

With a post in the fold, the Bulldogs can now focus on other positions to fill the remaining 2 scholarships available.
