Mitchell Narrows to Eight

Suwanee (GA) Collins Hill guard Devin Mitchell narrowed his list to eight schools and breaks down each

Suwanee (GA) Collins Hill guard Devin Mitchell has seen his stock sky-rocket from January till now. The 6-foot 3 guard had little interest from power conferences schools before April, but surged onto the national scene with his play for the Georgia Stars and Southern Kings.

The 4-star guard has become one of the most pursued prospects in the class of 2014 and today has narrowed his list to just eight finalists.

Mitchell has cut his list to include Kansas State, Memphis, Wake Forest, UAB, Alabama, Georgia, Cincinnati, and Ole Miss.

The Peach-State native also had offers from Marquette, Miami (FL), Butler, Tennessee, Georgia Tech, North Carolina State, Xavier, and a few others.

Mitchell breaks down his finalists.

Kansas State – "I like the conference that they are in, Coach Weber and his offense, the whole motive of their team, and the structure of it."

Memphis – "Coach Pastner and I have built a good relationship over time. I feel really comfortable with their staff, and they have a need for a scorer too."

Wake Forest – "They have a need for what I can do and what I can bring to the table. I took an unofficial there."

UAB – "Joining a big class and coming in with a lot of freshman. We can kind of come in and finish out together. Along with the coaching staff. They have been recruiting me longer than anyone else."

Alabama – "One of my close friends is committed there, Justin Coleman, so it would be great to play with him. They have the need for scorers too. A good opportunity to go and play in the SEC early."

UGA – "Another school that has been recruiting me for awhile. I like seeing what the coaches are doing."

Cincinnati – "They are really in need of a shooter. They really don't have anyone that can shoot the ball right now."

Ole Miss –"Coach Kennedy and his offense. Just kind of how he used Marshall Henderson this year. I can really see myself running his offense and being able to play early in the SEC under Coach Kennedy."

Mitchell was looking for a school that needs scoring help and a need at the two guard. All the schools he included are in need of help at that position and can use his dynamic scoring abilities.

A couple schools that were left off his list and potentially expected were Tennessee and Vanderbilt. Mitchell left the Volunteers off his list with the commitment of Larry Austin to the Vols yesterday. He was also expected to visit Vanderbilt this weekend, but didn't include them in his list, therefore he did not take the visit.

Now Mitchell looks to narrow his list even further to just 4 or 5 in the next month or so. He will then begin to take official visits.

Mitchell hopes to sign in the early signing period in November.
