Butler Set to Host Henriquez

Butler is set to host Adonys Henriquez, Orlando (FL) Orlando Regional Christian, a 2014 shooting guard this weekend for an official visit.

Indianapolis - With just one commitment in the Class of 2014, Butler is looking to secure another commitment this weekend after landing an official visit from Orlando (FL) Orlando Regional Christian shooting guard Adonys Henriquez.

The Bulldogs have been on Henriquez since early last year. Despite committing to Miami (FL) in December, the Bulldogs were patient in their approach and after Henriquez decommitted from the Hurricanes in late August, Butler has pounced on the opportunity.

Coach Brandon Miller has put in a lot of time with Henriquez in the past few weeks. The first-year head coach has been at Orlando Regional Christian multiple times, showing Henriquez that he is a priority for Butler. This attention has made headway for Henriquez as he currently favors UCF and Butler, while Florida State, Southern California, Creighton, and DePaul give chase.

What would a commitment mean for Butler?

While Butler hasn't had the success in the Class of 2014 that it had envisioned when it started recruiting most of the class last June, it still has a chance to make this a special class. Butler has missed out on some impressive guards including J.P. Macura, Trevon Bluiett, Chris Chiozza, Dakota Mathias, and a few others.

Despite the misses the Bulldogs would have a chance to gain a special commitment with Henriquez. He was a former Scout Top 100 player when he committed to Miami (FL), but has recently slipped in the rankings. He is currently a 3-star prospect and the 28th ranked shooting guard in the class. Despite slipping in the rankings, Henriquez has Top 100 talent and could be a special piece at Butler.

Henriquez blends a smooth jump shot with an ability to attack the rim. His length and athleticism could be a mismatch for defenders and provide them with a threat off the dribble. Henriquez would help Butler fit in well in the Big East.

Butler currently has one commitment in the Class of 2014 from Tyler Wideman, Saint John (IN) Lake Central, and is currently looking to add multiple pieces. With current guard target Riley LaChance looking elsewhere, it makes this visit from Henriquez that much more important.
