Big East Media Day: Preseason Poll

On Media Day, Marquette was selected to win inaugural season of Big East

At the inaugural Big East media day in New York, Marquette was selected by the coaches to win the Big East.

The Golden Eagles were followed closely by original Big East holdover Georgetown, as well as newcomer, and former Missouri Valley Conference powerhouse, Creighton.

First-place votes were spread among Marquette (5), Georgetown (2), Creighton (1), and St. John's (2).

Butler, competing in its 3rd conference in 3 seasons, found itself in an unfamiliar position. The Bulldogs were selected 9th out of 10 teams in the new Big East, only ahead of DePaul.

The Bulldogs took the placement in stride. The players and coaches had a similar message, the goal for Butler is to win championships, that is no different this year.

The season for Butler starts November 9th against Lamar. The Bulldogs will begin Big East play December 31st by hosting Villanova.
