Butler opened exhibition play by defeating Nova Southeastern 101-64. We take a look at what happened at Hinkle Fieldhouse tonight.

Summary - Butler overwhelmed an undermanned Division-2 opponent 101-64. The Bulldogs jumped all over the Sharks early in the game and never looked back.

Butler was led by sophomore shooting guard Kellen Dunham who scored 16 points while shooting 5/9 from the field and 3/5 from 3-point range. Dunham played a team-high 19 minutes.

Butler jumped on the Sharks early and used a huge 1st half run sparked by 3-pointers from Elijah Brown, Kellen Dunham, and Jackson Aldridge to break open a 38-16 lead and never looked back.

The Bulldogs led 55-27 at halftime and extended their lead to over 40 points in the 2nd half.

The Bulldogs received a lot of support form the bench. All but one Butler player scored during the exhibition opener. Elijah Brown and Nolan Berry each had 11 points off the bench in the Butler debuts. Brown was 3/5 from the field (2/4 3PT) with 5 assists and 4 rebounds, while Berry was 5/7 (1/1 3PT) from the field and collected 6 rebounds.

Butler also received solid contributions from senior Erik Fromm, who finished with 8 points and 3 rebounds, as well as Khyle Marshall, who scored 13 points on 6/8 FG. Marshall also had 4 rebounds and 2 assists.

Nova was led by Chris Page with 18 points and 4 steals off the bench. Casey Carroll added 13 points on 5/10 from the field for the Sharks who fell to 1-1 in exhibition games this season.

Butler shot well from the field all night. The Bulldogs finished 33/54 (61.1%) from the field including 12/21 (57.1%) from 3-point range. In comparison, Nova shot shot just 22/58 (37.9%) from the field, including 6/27 (22.2%) from 3-point range.

The Bulldogs also outscored Nova Southeastern 46-37 in the 2nd half.

It was over when... - Elijah Brown entered the game and went on to score 8 points in a matter of just under 90 seconds. Brown was a spark plug off the bench and really stuffed the stat sheet. Brown was part of a 32-8 run to blow the game open in the middle of the 1st half.

It was the first time that Butler had scored over 100 points in 12 years. The last time was during Todd Lickliter's 1st season as head coach.
