INDIANAPOLIS (IN) - Butler (7-2) opened the offensive flood gates against Division 3 Manchester defeating the Spartans 100-41 at Hinkle Fieldhouse on Monday night.
Thirteen Bulldogs scored against Manchester. Kellen Dunham led the Bulldogs with 15 points in just 19 minutes of action. The sophomore was 4/5 shooting from the field including 2/3 from three.
From the onset the Spartans were overmatched by the Bulldogs.
Nothing could go wrong for Butler. On a play during the first half, freshman guard Elijah Brown tried to feed an alley-oop to Khyle Marshall. The ball was off target from Marshall, but found its way into the basket and counted for 3-points.
Butler took a 48-24 lead into halftime.
While resting their starters for much of the 2nd half, Butler outscored Manchester 52-17.
Butler shot 38/60 (63.3%) from the field and 12/23 (52.2%) from three point range.
Freshman point guard Rene Castro scored a career-high 12 points on 5/7 shooting and played a career high 16 minutes off the bench.
