Butler Schedules Series with Tennessee

Butler announced an agreement on a two year series with Tennessee starting in 2014-15.

INDIANAPOLIS (IN) - The Butler basketball program hasn't shied away from difficult non-conference games dating back to its time in the MCC, Horizon, and Atlantic-10. Now in the Big East, Butler continues to challenge itself during non-league play.

The Bulldogs added another significant opponent today, when the program announced a two year home-and-home series with the Tennessee Volunteers.

Butler will travel to Knoxville on December 14th and will host Tennessee in 2015-16 at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

It is just another marquee game for the Bulldogs next season, which includes non-conference games against Indiana as well as a stacked Battle for Atlantis event.

Tennessee will welcome in a new coach, Donnie Tyndall, after a 24-13 season and trip to the Sweet 16 under former head coach Cuonzo Martin. The Volunteers are also trying to rebuild a 2014 recruiting class, which saw all four members obtain releases from their NLI.

The last meeting between the two schools was in the 2008 NCAA tournament, which saw Tennessee defeat Butler 76-71 in overtime.
