Gathers Lands at Butler

Former St. Bonaventure guard Jordan Gathers has transferred to Butler

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - With multiple scholarships available for the 2015-16 season, Butler was looking to land a transfer or two to round out its roster.

The Bulldogs landed one transfer on Sunday in former St. Bonaventure guard Jordan Gathers. He transferred before the season began and was able to graduate early and will be immediately eligible at Butler as long as he selects a major that wasn't available at St. Bonaventure.

"(I'm) just taking it all in and enjoying the moment," Gathers told InsidetheDawgPound. "I'm excited to be a Bulldog!"

Gathers, a 6-foot-3, 200 pound combo guard, will help to fill in for departing senior Alex Barlow along with former NC State transfer Tyler Lewis.

The former Loyola (CA) High School standout averaged 8.2 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game in 2013-14 for the Bonnies. He also shot 36% from 3-point range, while connecting on 39.1% from the field. He was also 79.7% from the free throw line.

Gathers is the nephew of Loyola Marymount's Hank Gathers.

Butler remains on the search for potentially two more prospects in 2015. The Bulldogs remain on the trail of Kipper Nichols and may be looking to add another big-man as well.
