NEW YORK, NY - Coach Chris Holtmann and the Butler Bulldogs had a good day at Big East Media Day on Wednesday. The Bulldogs were selected to finish 3rd in the Big East by the Coaches. This was the highest predicted finish in the Bulldogs short history in the Big East.
Butler finished 23-11 last season and 12.6 in the Big East finishing tied for second. They were eliminated in the 3rd Round of the NCAA Tournament last season by Notre Dame 67-64 in overtime.
The good news and predictions didn't stop there. Senior forward Roosevelt Jones and senior guard Kellen Dunham were each selected to the All-Big East 1st team.
Dunham led the Bulldogs in scoring last season averaging 16.5 points per game while shooting 42.9% from the field and 85% from the free throw line.
Jones finished last season second in scoring (12.7) and rebounding (5.2) while leading the team in assists (3.7) per game. He finished 42% from the field and 60.6% from the free throw line.
