Players to Watch
Tyler Lewis: While there are the usual suspects for Butler returning in Kellen Duham, Andrew Chrabascz, and Roosevelt Jones, it will be the debut for North Carolina State transfer Tyler Lewis. The former McDonald's All-American point guard will be replacing Alex Barlow and be the catalyst for the Butler offense. He scored 11 points in both exhibition games and led the Bulldogs in assists against Saint Joseph's (Ind.). He will have big shoes to fill on the defensive end as Barlow was one of the best in the country over the past few seasons. Look for Butler to be more explosive offensively from the point guard slot, while falling back a little defensively. Lewis is certainly able to hold his own on that ends as well.
Tyler Wideman: Chrabascz might be the most known front court player for the Bulldogs, but Wideman might be the most important. Wideman will be looked upon to fill the other forward position as Kameron Woods graduated. He had shown the ability to be an elite rebounder on the AAU circuit before his senior season and showed flashes last year as well.
Jackson Davis: Another player looked upon to take the place of Woods on the glass is Davis. Long and athletic like Woods, Davis will have an opportunity to carve out his niche with the Bulldogs this season. There are a few similarities to Woods and his career. Woods and Davis were both mildly effective as freshman but like Woods, Davis now has a chance to have a break out season. In 22 minutes during the exhibition schedule, Davis collected 16 rebounds.
