Butler hosts Providence in the Big East Opener

No. 9 Butler plays host to No. 12 Providence in the Big East opener for both schools on New Year's Eve.

BUTLER

Kellen Dunham: Dunham needs to get going for the Bulldogs to operate at their best. The senior guard continues to lead the Bulldogs in scoring this season at 15.6 points per game, but is shooting just 40% from the field. He is still shooting well from the free throw line as he is 45/48 from the line for an amazing 93.8%.

Roosevelt Jones: Jones will have his hands full on both ends of the court against Providence. The redshirt senior will drawn Kris Dunn for an assignment for part if not the entire game. He is currently averaging 13.8 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 5 assists per game for the Bulldogs. Jones' play will be crucial to the success of the Butler. He cannot afford to get in foul trouble, especially early.

PROVIDENCE

Kris Dunn: Dunn is one of the most explosive and creative scorers in the country. The talented junior guard could have gone to the NBA last season, but opted to stay at Providence. He is contributing in all facets of the game for the Friars as he is scoring 16.5 points per game, dishing out 7.3 assists while collecting 6.1 rebounds.

Ben Bentil: The 6-foot-9 forward is a force down low for the Friars this season. He is currently averaging 18.8 points and 8 rebounds per game this saeason. He scored 32 points on 11/16 shooting from the field his last time out against UMass.
