Weeks excited about BYU offer

Arizona prep phenom Josh weeks received his first scholarship offer on Wednesday. Receiving the first scholarship offer is always a special moment for prep athletes, but receiving that first offer from the school on top of their list makes it even more special. TBS caught up with Weeks to learn more about his offer and how it came about.

Josh Weeks is a 6-foot-4-inch, 190-pound wide receiver prospect from Show Low, Arizona. His team is just coming off of a state championship win over rival Blue Ridge, adding to his already impressive list of accomplishments on the field.

Weeks broke the all-time touchdown mark for 3A Arizona prep football earlier this year. Due to this and other accomplishments, he received an offer from BYU on Wednesday, an offer that he very much coveted.

"I've been communicating with Coach Tidwell a lot and today he flew down here to inform me of my official offer," related Weeks. "It was an amazing feeling to finally have my first college offer, because it's always been a dream of mine to play college football at a high level."

Weeks was well aware that Tidwell wasn't going to fly down to his home just to stop by and say "hi."

"He let me know that he'd have something for me that I'd really like, so I figured it would be an offer," Weeks said. "I've really grown to like Coach Tidwell and the other BYU coaches a lot, and now having an offer to play for them, it's what I've always wanted."

Weeks comes from a BYU home, as both of his parents attended BYU. They watch all the games and even made their way up to Provo to watch the team live earlier this season, which was his first opportunity to do so.

"We went to the San Diego State game and it was great," he said. "We got great seats at the 50-yard line and it was great seeing the team live. The stadium and the fans were all great. BYU has a great environment which I like a lot."

Weeks just completed his junior season, so he has a while before he has to make his decision regarding which school he'll sign with. It's a comfort knowing that he'll have at least one offer, although he's hopeful that more will come his way.

"I'm very happy with my BYU offer and we'll see what happens now," he said. "We'll see if other schools offer, but I'm really grateful to be offered by BYU because they're my number-one school with both my parents going there and all that. I'm very thankful for Coach Tidwell and the rest of the coaches for the offer."

Weeks hopes to make his commitment decision before his senior season.
