Richard close to a decision

Louisiana running back Jalen Richard currently has three offers, including one from BYU. Although he is now receiving interest from some other schools, he feels he is close to making a final decision.

During the summer, Jalen Richard suffered a knee injury while attending the Ole Miss camp. The injury kept him from participating in this season.

Nevertheless, some Division I football programs have been starting to show interest lately.

"I have three offers from BYU, Memphis and Louisiana Tech, and they're all still in the picture," Richard said. "ULL [University of Louisiana-Lafayette] has slid up a little. I've got new colleges calling in and checking in on the knee and seeing how it's going. Coaches from Cal, UCLA and Kansas have called. I think all the big, big schools are waiting to see how I come out from my knee injury."

However, despite some potential for other schools getting in on the recruiting process, Richard feels he's getting close to a decision.

"I feel Louisiana Tech might end up stealing it," he said. "I'm real close. Louisiana Tech called me and called my coach. They told me that I would actually be able to come and jump right in. They told me that I can come in and compete and if I do well I can possibly play. They have some starters now but I'm not worried about that."

One reason why Richard is favoring Louisiana Tech is because he hasn't spoken much with the coaches at other schools.

"Things are kind of dead right now because of the season, but, like I said, I haven't heard from them in a minute. I'm not sure what's going on."

BYU is one of the schools that Richard has had limited contact with.

"What was said was BYU told my coach to relay back to me that they would offer me a scholarship," Richard said. "I haven't spoken to any of the coaches though." <
