However, a trip to BYU will now have to wait. The 6-foot-4-inch, 230-pound outside linebacker from Beaverton High School had to cancel the long-awaited trip due to finals.
"It sucks so bad," said a dejected Colorito. "My teachers won't let me take my finals early, so I can't make it out there. It sucks too because I had been planning this trip for a long time. I asked my teachers and they said, ‘No, we'll be too busy with grades, so just take your final on the final day.' It sucks. I was pissed."
His best efforts to convince his teachers to let him take the final early fell short in the end.
"It sucks and I tried to convince them, and they were like, ‘No we're not having it.' I'm just going to talk to Coach Poppinga and see what he wants to do. Yeah, it sucks."
Colorito was excited about heading to Provo with his father Tony. He was looking forward to being among other recruits from his area, such as Dallin Leavitt and Johnny Ragin. He was even also about seeing old friends Marcus and Mitch Mathews, who are currently down at BYU. However, that reunion will now have to wait.
After finding out he wouldn't be able to attend BYU's Junior Day, Colorito called up Coach Poppinga to inform him of the change of plans.
"I called up Coach Poppinga and he was pretty upset that I couldn't come because we had been planning on this for a while," Colorito said. "He was pretty bummed out about it but he's trying to get me up there sometime this month. It would have just been really cool to have come up there now.
"Yeah, I was really looking forward to it and I think I'm going to try and make it down there by the end of the month. It just depends on how everything works with my team and all that. Like I said, I'll have to figure it out later with Coach Poppinga and plan on a different time. It just sucks. It really does."
