Fall camp: day 11

For Tuesday's morning practice, the Cougars practiced outdoors with shells. All in all, the team is getting a bit restless and testy, as the offense and defense are getting a little tired of each other. Meanwhile, the offense couldn't get much going during scrimmaging.

Coach Mendenhall interview

Drive 1: Riley Nelson

Nelson went 5-of-7 for just 24 yards on the day. During his first drive, he completed a pass to Austin Holt and scrambled for short yardage. Michael Alisa also got a carry on the drive. The drive ended with Craig Bills dropping a gift interception.

Drive 2: James Lark

After a David Foote run, Lark threw two consecutive incompletions, and the offense had to punt.

Drive 3: Taysom Hill

Hill's first drive lasted only two plays. Hill began by completing a pass to Foote for about 18 yards. On the next play, however, he fumbled the snap, allowing Alani Fua to get a sack.

Drive 4: Riley Nelson

On the first play of the fourth drive, Alisa was hit hard by Uona Kaveinga, who sent the running back stumbling backwards. With contact being limited, this didn't sit too well with the coaches, and Kaveinga was kicked out of practice. Nelson then completed passes to Foote, J.D. Falslev, and Alisa (twice), but for only for minimal yardage.

Drive 5: Jason Munns

Munns then got in on the action, although it was just another two-play drive. After an incomplete pass, Adam Hine rushed the ball once.

Drive 6: Taysom Hill

After Hill scrambled down the sideline for 13 yards, he completed consecutive passes to Foote. Hill finished the day with 3-of-3 passing for 29 yards. Foote, meanwhile, finished with four catches for 34 yards.

- The Cougars are down two offensive linemen. Senior Walter Kahaiali'i needs knee surgery and will thus end his playing career, but is expected to stay with the team as a student assistant. Sophomore Fono Vakalahi, meanwhile, is transferring. Jacob Hannemann and Taggart Krueger will take their places on the roster.

- Mitch Mathews sustained a shoulder injury on Monday and will have a CAT scan on Tuesday. He was icing his shoulder during Tuesday's morning practice.

- Jamaal Williams rolled his ankle early during practice and is being evaluated.
