Cougar Snapshots

Two days of spring camp media access have come and gone as the team development for the Cougars is now fully underway. Total Blue Sports photographer Troy Verde was on hand to capture photos for this edition of Cougar Snapshots.

There are plenty of new faces, and some known ones too, running about BYU's practice field as spring camp gets underway. The Cougar offense and defense have a talented mix of players on the roster.

Highly recruited wide receiver Nick Kurtz stands on the sidelines watching and waiting for his chance to go in. Although it's early in spring camp, Kurtz has received a lot of work.

Possessing a rare combination of size and speed, Kurtz is seen here stretching the field. He is expected to contribute this season and will provide a nice target downfield.

A 2013 recruiting class commit, Jordan Preator is now applying his skills at the boundary cornerback position early in spring camp. Preator has been receiving reps with the second team.

Speedy receiver Mike Davis stands along the sidelines waiting his turn to put the burners on.

Much like Kurtz, Davis had received a lot of early work now that he's been switched back to the offensive side of the ball. Here Davis makes a long catch downfield.

Having recently come off a two-year LDS mission, Ului Lapuaho is currently playing left tackle on the second-team offensive line. Coach Tuajague has already expressed his excitement for the 6-foot-7-inch lineman.

Trent Trammell has made his return to the field noticeable by being a ball-hawk knocking down passes meant for receivers. Trammell is having a very good early spring camp while playing with the first team.

Here Trammell lines up to get ready for the next play.

Although he's not participating in spring camp now due to a midseason knee injury from last year, Toloa'i Ho Ching has been conditioning over the course of spring camp. He's among the strongest linebackers on the team as just a redshirt freshman, and in this picture it's easy to see why.

Defensive lineman Travis Tuiloma locks up with offensive guard Solomoe Kafu. Tuiloma recently returned home from his mission and has some work to do to get back to his pre-mission strength and size.

Tailback Paul Lasike and Mike linebacker Manoa Pikula sit together and watch the action from the sidelines.

Craig Bills has been moving back and forth between free safety and strong safety. Here, junior wide receiver Kurt Henderson – who's been having a successful early spring camp – makes a catch downfield with Bills right behind him.

Defensive lineman Tomasi Laulile is listed at 270 pounds, but he looks more like he's at about 245 pounds. Coach Kaufusi feels Laulile will help the team this season on the defensive line.

Theodore King squares off in one-on-one action against Kesni Tausinga – who recently returned home from a mission – as Coach Kaufusi looks on.
