Hawaii offered Lui and he was just as thrilled as he was relieved.
"At first it was pretty surprising because they weren't really sending letters, but it was exciting," said Lui. "Really exciting. I could ease up a little and not stress."
The Warriors offered Lui as a defensive end, but Hawaii, like other schools, thinks he could grow into a defensive tackle.
Lui is LDS and plans to serve a mission once he graduates.
"Right now, the plan is to serve my mission first," said Lui. "I think when I get back and get older, I'll get bigger so I could move inside to play tackle."
Academically, Lui has a 3.4 and will take the SAT this spring.
