Travis Hansen to Host Utah Summer Camp for Youth

Former BYU basketball star and recent 2nd round NBA draft pick Travis Hansen will be hosting a summer basketball camp August 11-13 at Mountain View High School in Orem, Utah.

The camp will be open to boys and girls between the ages of 7-18 and will focus on skill development including ball handling, shooting and defense.

Hansen and other former college players and coaches will be conducting the three-day clinic with sessions running from 9 a.m. to noon each day.

Hansen, who now plays for the Atlanta Hawks, was the first BYU player selected in the NBA draft since Shawn Bradley was the second pick in the 1993 draft.

Hansen was a consensus All-Mountain West Conference First-team selection in 2003. He was voted MWC Co-Defensive Player of the Year and led BYU in scoring the past two seasons at 16.8 and 15.6 points per game.

The cost of the camp is $85 and proceeds will help benefit the Laurie Mitchell Hansen Foundation, named for his deceased mother and was created to assist children with cancer and their families.

More information on the camp and online registration is available at or by calling 801-356-7737.
