The official offer was sent Friday night via email, but the Mugleston family was traveling and Drew did not see it until Sunday evening.
"I'm excited about it. It's my first offer from a D-1 school, so hopefully some more come through now."
Mugleston recently attended BYU's summer camp and came away impressed. "I really like BYU. It's a great place and the coaches are great. BYU is definitely a school I'd like to play for."
He said BYU was among his top college choices. The others are Arizona State, Colorado, California and San Diego State. Mugleston confirmed he is not close to making a decision and will take his official recruiting trips, wait for offers to come in and decide after reviewing all his options.
"All of those schools are recruiting me and I'm just waiting to see what they offer. I'll make my decision after receiving their offers and considering all factors," he said.
Mugleston said he has plans to serve an LDS mission and wants to go to a school that will accommodate those plans. He said he believes BYU want him as a defensive back, primarily.
"They didn't tell me and I think they'll try me out at both positions if I sign there. I think they want me as a DB and that's fine. I'll play wherever."
Teammate and best friend Hall is inching closer toward his decision on where to will play football. Hall previously stated to TBS he would like to announce his decision before his high school football season starts this fall.
He reconfirmed it again today: "I'll make my decision soon here, maybe by the end of the week. I'm going to think about it hard and then go from there."
