In today’s press conference with BYU head coach Kalani Sitake, he talked about the steady improvement of the team to grasp the various concepts being implemented on both sides of the ball. Coach Sitake talked about the leadership on the team and about being himself as a coach. He joked about the demeanor of former BYU head coach LaVell Edwards and how his style of coaching will be different. He also talked about the progress of Taysom Hill and much more.
BYU assistant head coach Ed Lamb sat at the media round table today to field questions concerning the health of players and the team during spring camp. He talked about some of the areas of biggest progression on the team. Coach Lamb also talked about the big change between “thud tempo” and a new type of non-contact drill he believes will better translate on the field during live practice and much more.
Senior wide receiver Nick Kurtz had a breakout performance on Day 7 of spring camp and talked about it with the media after practice. Kurtz talked about playing under the new coaching staff and about his experiences with wide receivers coach Ben Cahoon. He also talked about how he’s adjusting to offensive coordinator Ty Detmer’s revamped pro-style offense and taking on the new defense under defensive coordinator Ilaisa Tuiaki. He also gave his thoughts on taking on more of a leadership role on the team and much more.
BYU linebacker Va'a Niumatalolo sat down at the media roundtable to address questions surrounding spring camp and the transition to a new coaching staff. He shared how Elder David Bednar came and addressed the team during the coaching transition. Niumatalolo also talked about his father Ken not being named the head coach at BYU and some related topics dealing with his family in the movie “Meet the Mormons.”
