Takaamoatoa Lautaha has an interest in BYU due to his LDS faith and says the Cougars would be atop his wish list of offers

Out of Saint Francis High School (HI) Takaamoatoa Lautaha is being evaluated by MWC, Pac-12, and SEC football programs along with BYU. TotalBlueSports.com caught up with Lautaha to get a clearer picture of the recruiting landscape for him and where BYU stands in that picture.

Saint Francis High School’s (HI) Takaamoatoa Lautaha is a 6-4, 245-pound linebacker/defensive end prospect much like former BYU Cougar Kyle Van Noy. Lautaha is currently on BYU's radar.

“Things are going pretty good with BYU,” said Lautaha. “I have only talked with Coach Ofahengaue and stuff, but yeah that's the only person I talked to. I haven't really talked with the head coach or other coaches yet. We just talk about football like film and trying to improve on the field.”

BYU’s Director of Recruiting Operations Tevita Ofahengaue has been busy evaluating and keeping in touch with athletes who’ve stood out on film. For Lautaha, BYU is a college choice that lands near the top of his list.

“Where BYU stands with me is that they stands up there as a top choice,” Lautaha said. “Yeah, I’m still considering [BYU] because it's my church school, cause I'm LDS and my faith is strong in the church. And what I like most about BYU under Coach Sitake is that he ties school, faith, and football together so that makes his program one of the best.”

However, the BYU has yet to offer Lautaha. At this current time, Lautaha holds one college offer.

“The offer I have received was from Colorado State,” said Lautaha. “BYU is at the top even though they haven't offered yet, but they are at the top of choices.”

He’s planning on visiting BYU over the summer and doing so with fingers crossed.

“Yes, I plan on taking an unofficial visit to BYU early during the summer, and what I look forward to seeing most is the campus, facility, and how thing are run at BYU,” said Lautaha.
