JAN. 15 - TotalBlueSports.com Recruiting Diary

With news yesterday that defensive back Josh Hargis may not be able to play at BYU after all, the urgency to land highly-touted, all-purpose prospect Antwon Guidry became even more important. TotalBlueSports.com learned yesterday that Guidry -- with Texas A&M, UNLV, Frenso State and Utah State hot on his heels -- will not be visiting Provo this weekend as scheduled.

Guidry, a 6-0, 190-pound all-purpose standout from Community College of San Francisco (CCSF), told TBS his wallet was just stolen with his ID, credit card and other personal items. He said he could not travel to Provo today without his ID and expects replacement with the next two weeks from the DMV.

He said he will now visit BYU toward the end of the month, adding that Fresno State and UNLV has now entered the recruiting mix with earlier candidates Texas A&M and Utah State.

Listed as a JCFootball.com Top 60 player nationally who signed with Nebraska out of high school, this versatile all purpose recruit excelled as a cornerback, running back, kick returner, wide receiver and was described by his coach as the "best athlete" on this year's JC national championship team from California.

Guidry had narrowed his final three choices to BYU, Texas A&M and Utah State, but that was before UNLV and Fresno State entered the picture.

"He has incredible speed. He is a track star in a football player's body with football toughness," CCSF assistant coach Dan Hayes told TBS. Antwon is, without a doubt, our best overall athlete on the team."

Though he has yet to visit Provo, Guidry told TBS several weeks ago, "What I really like about BYU is the educational support and the athletic facilities, which are amazing. All the coaches I've talked to there are great guys and are down to earth."

Guidry played both ways at wide receiver and cornerback and he was CCSF's kick return specialist.

"He did more for the team than any single player," Coach Hayes added.

Guidry told TBS his wallet and all ID was stolen this week and he is not able to travel by air with ID. He said he reported it to police and should have his replacement ID from DMV within two weeks.

He added he will now likely reschedule his BYU visit within the next two weeks, but noted that Fresno State and UNLV have now entered the recruiting mix for his services.
