TBS hears from recruits So'oto and Fortener

TBS's Bradley Corbett shares what he has been hearing from BYU recruits Vic So'oto and Danny Fortener. Wide receiver prospect Fortener tells us what schools are in contact with him. Tight end recruit So'oto updates us on how his football season has gone, and how his recruiting season is shaping up.

Some of you will remember Danny Fortener, a speedy wide receiver from Kettering, Ohio. Fortener reportedly runs a 4.25 forty. So far he has not received a scholarship offer from a D-1 school, but says that Wisconsin and most of the "MAC' schools are still in contact with him.

"The schools have said that I'm kind of on their waiting list, depending on what players do that they have already offered," Fortener said. "Haven't heard anything from BYU. The last contact I've had with BYU was when Total Blue Sports called me this summer for an interview."

Fortener said his team is doing well this year, and is in the middle of the playoffs. He is playing QB for his team, and says he has done well, even though he still plans on playing WR in college.

Total Blue Sports has also been in contact with top tight end prospect Vic So'oto. TBS asked the Carlsbad High star about his showdown with nearby Oceanside High in which So'oto faced his cousin, Cougar defensive line commit Russell Tialavea. TBS inquired about Vic's general recruiting situation as well. So'oto sent the following email in reply:

Well as you know the game didn't go as we planned but it's okay. O'side has a lot of weapons and they found our weakness and thrived on it. In the first half they scored 17pts but in the 2nd half they scored 0. Our defense took too much time to wake up and play football. As for my TD, it was bitter-sweet...it felt good to score but I knew it wasn't enough to change the game. I believe that Russell is the most underrated player in CA. If you watch him play you'll be able to see that he could be one of the top DT's in the country. He has the ability to take on double or triple teams and still make a play in the backfield. He's an outright FREAK! As far as recruiting goes Uof A [Arizona], Wash St., SDSU, BYU, U of U and Oregon St are all still recruiting hard. And no, I do not have a favorite right now but I want to commit soon. I have visits set up for Wash St., U of A and SDSU as of right now (you never know, things could change).
