TBS Breaking News: Empey and Bradford Leaving BYU

In a breaking development from the BYU football program, TBS has learned that Wide Receiver Coach Todd Bradford and Tight End Coach Mike Empey will no longer be a part of the BYU coaching staff.

Earlier this afternoon sources connected to the BYU football program informed TBS that Wide Receiver Coach Todd Bradford and Tight Ends Coach Mike Empey will not be retained by the university. TBS later confirmed this information with the university.

In a statement this evening, Brigham Young University announced the departure of the two coaches. BYU indicated that the decision to release Bradford and Empey was made prior to Monday's press conference announcing Bronco Mendenhall at the new head coach of the BYU football team.

Also from the BYU statement:

"‘I want to make it clear that this decision was not made based upon performance' said BYU Head Coach Bronco Mendenhall. ‘Todd and Mike are close friends of mine, and are both excellent coaches. Simply, the administration determined there was a need for the new staff to have the flexibility to find coaches who would best match our new offensive scheme.

‘I have the utmost respect for those two gentlemen. We will do all we can to assist them in an appropriate and positive manner.'

The University will honor the contractual obligations of both coaches through the remainder of their contracts."
