Recruiting Update: Matt Asiata

The future is still unclear for Hunter High School running back Matt Asiata, but an official visit to BYU this weekend will go a long way toward clarifying the picture. BYU fans will certainly be anxious to hear the news out of the Asiata home come Monday.

With only one week left before national Letter of Intent Day, BYU fans are still holding their breath for Hunter High School Star Matt Asiata.

Two weeks ago when TBS talked with Matt he was trying to decide between BYU, Utah, UNLV, Cal, and Oregon. Well, he has decided. Unfortunately he has not yet heard if he has passed the ACT in order to qualify.

"If I pass the ACT I'm going to BYU," Asiata said. "BYU has my score right now but they haven't notified me yet. When I go down on my official visit this weekend (1/28) they will let me know if I passed."

Matt said that Coach Kafusi and Reynolds are still keeping in regular contact with him and want him to come down this coming weekend. Matt also said that if he does not pass the ACT this month he will take it again next month. In the mean time he said that BYU has told him they will hold a scholarship for him if he doesn't pass by LOI day.

Matt said he is staying busy lifting weights and playing point guard on his High School basketball team. TBS will follow up with Matt after this weekend to find out about his ACT score.
